In a stunning turn of events, Emory’s former president, Claire E. Sterk has been found to have operated 3 burner Twitter accounts. Sterk is not the first famous person to have been caught operating a burner or secret social media account and she certainly will not be the last. Some other celebrities include Kevin Durant, who used burner Twitter accounts to engage in debates with trolls, Lorde, who had a secret Instagram account to review onion rings, and Beyonce, who used a secret Snapchat account to send her mother videos.
None of these people are Claire E freaking Sterk, however! The 20th president of Emory University has been caught operating not one, but THREE burner Twitter accounts! She used one to flatter herself, as she was feeling herself one 2019 Spring afternoon. She used another to criticize the Board of Trustees for not appropriating the funds necessary to demolish White Hall and build a fancy new academic building in its wake.
She used her final account, to draw a comparison to her performance during her first 4 months in office to current President Greg Fevnes’ performance.
Sterk’s accounts were exposed because she forgot to change her personalized Twitter tag from “Twitter for President Sterk” to “Twitter for iPhone.”
Current President Fenves has called for the termination of Sterk’s Twitter accounts and a permanent ban on her from entering upon Emory’s campuses. The ban includes the Oxford campus, but not Wesley Woods campus.
“Here’s the deal, I urge the Board of Trustees to ban former President Sterk from all Emory campuses. C'mon man, I mean what she said was just rude. Actually, we can let her on to Wesley Woods, but nowhere else. For you, For Us, For Emory.”
Sterk has declined to provide SPEOPLE a statement.
